Prentiss Kinney Boan

Prentiss Kinney “PK” Boan, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of the late Mildred Lee Branton Boan, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 14, 2023. His funeral service will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 220 N Main Street, McColl SC at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Jimmy Branton officiating. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel. 

Prentiss was born June 17, 1936 in Dillon, South Carolina, son of the late Samuel James Boan and Hattie Cranford Boan. He was the youngest of 10 children, all of whom preceded PK in death. He honorably served in the United States Air Force for 27 years. After his retirement from the military, he chose a second career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. Prentiss enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus through his many years of service in Alice Drive Baptist Church jail ministry in Sumter, SC, as well as the Charleston Baptist Church food pantry.  He was an avid golfer, and shared his love of the sport with anyone who would get on the links with him. 

Prentiss is survived by his daughter, Theresa Brutsch of Johns Island, SC; three sons, Prentiss Boan, Jr. (Claudia) of Morganton, NC, Tonney Boan of Waynesboro, VA, and Darrell Boan (Darlene) of Greensboro, NC; and ten grandchildren: Joshua Boan, Daniel Boan, JoBeth (Boan) Stamm, Brandon Boan, Chaz Boan, Cody Boan, Hannah Boan, Tacoma Boan, Jonah Boan and Micah Boan. In addition, PK is survived by his late in life cherished love, Julia Sanderson.
