Herbert Pratt Shaw, Sr., 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Frances Riddle Shaw, entered into eternal rest Friday, March 14, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 17, 2014, in St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Avenue, at 11:00 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Pratt was born July 6, 1928 in Johnsonville, South Carolina, son of the late Seth Porter Shaw and Annabelle Huggins Shaw. He was a US Army veteran and a retired electrician with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Pratt was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he was very active. He was also a member of the Men's Club and chairman of the building committee. Pratt was a member of the Elks Lodge, Rifle Club and American Legion. He was a leader in the Boy Scouts and member of the Order of the Arrow. He was very active in high school sports and played in the Shrine Bowl.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Shaw of Charleston, SC; sons, H. Pratt Shaw, Jr. (Elaine) of Yonges Island, SC and Raymond "Ray" Shaw (Gina) of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by three beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
