Polina Sobchuk, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Dr. Vladimir Sobchuk, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 19, 2025. Her Graveside Service will be held January 24, 2025, in Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Cemetery, Huguenin Avenue at 3:30pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Polina was born April 30, 1927 in Odessa, Ukraine daughter of Michael Lemberk and Sarra Gold Lemberk. She was a loving wife, an incredible mother and grandmother, and a dear friend. Polina was a Holocaust survivor. She was a nurse and had a deep sense of purpose in helping those that are suffering. She was tender and had an emense fortitude. Polina wrote poetry, played the piano, enjoyed sports. She loved her city Odessa and the Black Sea. But most of all she loved God and her family.
With her passing she is leaving an immense void in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.
Along with her husband of 75 years, Polina is survived by her daughters, Lyudmila Sobchuk and Jane Levis; son in-law Henry Levis; grandchildren Sarra Sobchuk, Rebecca Levis and Sam Levis; niece Alla Golod, grandnephew Steve Bashmakov and grandniece Anna Bashmakov.
Memorials may be made to Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim synagogue.
