Phyllis Daniels Wakat, Ph.D., 79, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Marshall August Wakat, Jr. entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 18, 2023. The family will receive friends 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun St. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
 
Phyllis was born May 14, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, daughter of the late Allen Daniels and the late Letha Ann Whitaker.  She received her Doctorate in Psychology from Virginia Tech and later was a professor at Hollins College. She also started and ran Terra Alta Interiors along with multiple antique and fashion shops in Charleston SC.  
 
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Marty Allen Wakat and his wife Karie of Kailua-Kona, HI and Marshall A. "Gus" Wakat, III and his wife Kristen of Vail, CO; two grandsons: Marshall A. Wakat IV and Levon David Wakat; and sister, Lynda Brown of Vandalia, OH.
