Entered into eternal rest on the evening of August 25, 2010, Phyllis Ann Burbage Van Ness, wife of James Kent Van Ness, Jr. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. James Kent Van Ness, Jr., are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Saturday, August 28, 2010 at eleven, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. The burial will be private. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Van Ness was born September 16, 1931in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Charles Roessler Burbage and Edith Ann Rumph Burbage. She was a graduate of Memminger School and was a member of James Island Yacht Club, Auxiliary and Maybank Tennis Center. She retired as an x-ray technologist with Charleston Radiology.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston, SC; one son: James Kent Van Ness, III of Charleston, SC; one sister: Roessler Burbage Ferrara of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Caroline Lee McCoy, James Otis McCoy, Morgan Michelle Van Ness all of Charleston, SC and Denise Elizabeth Rodgers of Lake City, SC. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Lee Van Ness.
