Phyllis Griffin Ogle

Our beloved Phyllis Griffin Ogle, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, tragically left us on September 8, 2024. Phyllis was a devoted wife to her late husband, Bobby Ray Ogle Sr. She is survived by her daughter, René Whipple; son, David Ogle; sisters Barbara Griffin Villemez (Clare), Sheila Griffin, Pam Griffin Bair (Steve), and Lynne Griffin Stephens (deceased); 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Phyllis was born December 3, 1941 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Mitchell Griffin and Henrietta Clifton Griffin. Phyllis’ tender heart and dry sense of humor touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Whether she was your Mom, Gabu, sister, aunt, cousin, or friend, Phyllis will forever live on in our hearts. We know she is now dancing with Bud, looking over all of us saying “No, I won't be afraid, Oh, I won't be afraid, Just as long as you stand, stand by me.”

As Dolly once said, "Storms make trees take deeper roots." Phyllis would want us not to remember her with sadness, but to celebrate the love she brought into our lives and the lessons she taught us.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel at 11:00 am, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery at 604 Ft. Johnson Road, Charleston, SC.

Memorial donations can be made in Phyllis' memory to the Lowcountry Firefighter Support Team.
