Phyllis Firetag Hyman, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside, Friday, March 17, 2017 in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery (Maryville) at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Phyllis was born July 24, 1933 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Abraham Joseph Firetag and Mildred Reznick Firetag. She was a member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel. She graduated from Rivers High School and attended the University of Tennessee. Phyllis had a deep love and sense of pride for Charleston, Israel and Jewish Heritage. She had a smile that brightened every room. Phyllis was a proud mother of her four children and reaped the pleasure of passing down her strong values. She was very involved in the Synagogue Sisterhood and The Jewish Community Center. Phyllis made the world a better place with her charity and compassion.
Phyllis is survived by her three sons: Eli H. Hyman (Ann-Therese) of Sullivan's Island, Aaron W. Hyman (Sylvia ) of Johns Island, and Joshua E. Hyman (Nava ) of Elazar, Israel, daughter; Jolie H. Brody (Aaron) of Jerusalem, Israel, two sisters: Helene F. Kligman and Lynda F. Denberg both of Sullivan's Island, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
