Phyllis Jean Farthing

Phyllis Jean Murdock Farthing, 85, of Johns Island, South Carolina, widow of Virgil Ray Farthing, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 23, 2016. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Phyllis was born in Creamery, West Virginia, daughter of the late Asa Marcus Murdock and Georgia Bragg Murdock. She was a member of Stono Baptist Church of Johns Island.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. Carter (Rodney) of Seguin, TX; three sons: Douglas R. Farthing (Shelvie) of Summerville, SC, Gregory N. Farthing (Debbie) of Johns Island, SC, and Walter P. Farthing (Michele) of Charleston, SC; sister, Lucille Sanders of Johns Island, SC; nine grandchildren: Amie Hart, Adam Carter, Gina Carter, Heather Farthing, Holly Washington, Brandon Farthing, Danielle Ott of Martinsville, VA, Zachary Farthing, and Hannah Farthing; and seven great-grandchildren: Duane Sondles, Jasmyn Farthing, Nate Wright, Izabella Washington, Keegan Washington, December Ott, and Damien Ott.
