Philip Matthew Meyer, 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, beloved husband of Mary Crawley Meyer, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

A native of Charleston, Philip was a graduate of Bishop England High School and attended the College of Charleston. As the owner of Meyer Insurance and Real Estate in Mount Pleasant, he built lasting relationships through his integrity, generosity, and genuine care for others.

Philip’s life was anchored by his Catholic faith and his call to service. Ordained as a Deacon in 1991, he served his parish and community with unwavering dedication. He began his service at Stella Maris on Sulivan’s Island and later at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in the heart of downtown Charleston, where he also served as sacristan for several years.

Outside of his professional and spiritual life, Philip was an enthusiastic Ham radio operator, finding great joy in supporting his local Ham community as a mentor and connecting with people across the world. His gregariousness and ability to quickly turn strangers into friends defined every aspect of his life.

Above all, Philip’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Crawley Meyer, his children Philip Meyer, Jr. (Hillary King), Brian Meyer (Veronica), and Patrick Meyer, all of Charleston, SC; Heather Meyer (Bhavin Joshi) of Mumbai, India; and Jennifer Meyer (Jonathan Evans) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Meyer of Charleston, and five cherished grandchildren: Jonathan, Eli, Avery, Ben, and Madison.

His graveside service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd, at 10:30 am. Brian and Veronica Meyer will receive family and friends at their home starting at 2 pm.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Arrangements are being handled by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
