Phil Tyrone DuPree

P. Tyrone DuPree, 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 19, 2023. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, following the service. The family will receive friends Monday in the Downtown Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

Tyrone was born March 13, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John M. DuPree and Odessa Barrineau DuPree. He was a graduate of Rivers High School. Tyrone began his career at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and most recently worked as a Technical Representative for CMMC-Collins Machine, which he considered his second family. 

He spent many years coaching and volunteering with North Charleston Parks and Recreation and coached baseball for almost a decade at Bishop England High School. He was an integral part of the Maybank Tennis community where he could be seen on the court or coaching from his rocking chair.

Tyrone was a loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his daughter, Tiffany DuPree Moye (Tripp) of Sullivan's Island; two sons: Ty DuPree, Jr. (Denise) of Summerville, SC and Terry M. DuPree (Angie) of Hanahan, SC; ten grandchildren; and two brothers: John M. DuPree (Mina) of Wadmalaw Island, SC and Timothy L. DuPree (Maureen) of Mount Pleasant, SC.
