Percy Allen Green Sr. 74, husband of Patricia Darling Green, of Mt. Pleasant S.C., passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The relatives and friends of Percy Green, Sr. are invited to a celebration of Percy's life at Christ Episcopal Church on Thursday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will greet friends at the church following the service.
Percy was born on April 35, 1936 in Hubert N.C. Son of the late Archie Green and Bessie Waters Green. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired welder at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Mr. Green was a member of the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club and the V.F.W. on the Isle of Palms. As well as being a devoted husband and father, Percy was well known for his fishing skills and had earned the title of "Flounder King" for his prowess in gigging at night.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Darling Green; daughter; Barbara Leigh Green of Mt. Pleasant S.C; son Percy Allen Green Jr. of Mt. Pleasant S.C; sister, Dorothy Gorshire of Clarkston M.I; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be made to The American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 108-B, Columbia, SC 29204 or The Muscular Dystrophy Association, 29 Leinbach Drive, #B4, Charleston, SC 29407 or a charity of ones choice.
