Penny Jo Mizell, 48, of Ravenel, South Carolina, wife of John Maxwell Mizell died Friday, March 31, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the St. Johannes Evangelical Lutheran Church, 48 Hasell Street, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road.

Penny was born July 4, 1968 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Joseph Sweat and the late Lorraine Sweat. She was a graduate of North Charleston High School and attended Trident Technical College. She owned and operated both a cleaning company and landscape service. She attended Full Gospel Church. Penny was an animal lover, especially turtles. She will be remembered as a very caring person who loved helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, John; son, Jonathan Joseph Gordon Mizell of Ravenel, SC; two brothers, Joseph "Joey" Sweat of Philadelphia, PA and Kyle Sweat of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Chelsea Sweat of North Charleston, SC and Faye Coe of Adams Run, SC; special cousins, Dorothy Moore of Jackson, MS and Jeanette McCoy of Ladson, SC; father-in-law, Henry Mizell of North Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Kathleen Collins of Crossville, TN; brother-in-law, Samuel (Becca) Mizell of Thompson Station, TN. Penny was preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Sweat.
