Peggy Lee Hammond, 77, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on January 28, 2026. She was born on March 20, 1948, in Elmira, New York.

Peggy was known for her generous heart, genuine kindness, and zest for life, as well as a laugh that was truly contagious. She embraced every opportunity for enjoyment and could often be found camping, fishing, attending bonfires, crafting, cheering on go-karts and dirt cars, or proudly supporting her beloved Buffalo Bills. Above all, Peggy loved the beach and anything near the water, always arriving with a bathing suit perfectly suited to the occasion. Constantly on the go, she rarely missed an adventure and was especially known for loading up her van with her grandchildren for unforgettable outings. Through adoption and foster care, Peggy made a lasting, positive impact on several families while continuing to grow her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Carol Arnone; her twin sister, Paula Lynn Tourtellotte; and her infant grandson, Richard Michael Doney. Peggy is survived by her brother, Stephen (Sue Carlson) Arnone of Jamestown, NY; her brother-in-law, Kris Tourtelotte of Myrtle Beach, SC; and her loving children: Aimee (Shane) Doney of Watertown, NY; Christopher (Tina Clifford) Hammond of Myrtle Beach, SC; Cpt. Jon-Paul (Amanda) Hammond of Georgetown, SC; David Hammond of Murrells Inlet, SC; Rick (Sarah) Hammond of Myrtle Beach, SC; Tina Hammond of Canandaigua, NY; Jaime (Edem) Komlanvi of Charlotte, NC; Amanda Hammond of Nunda, NY; and Molly Hammond of Summerville, SC.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shane Michael Doney; Brittni Heiligman (Zolin, Nelayah, Slayden); Kailey White (Bentley, Paisley, and McKadyn); Kasey Hammond (Kamden and Rhyan); Lily Hammond; Parker Hammond; Gabriel Hammond; Joshua Hammond; Cassie Hammond (Logan, Emmalee, and Harry); Alyssa Pearson-Rushing (Ally, Taylor, Rynn, Zaddie, Tiana); and Caitlyn Tuccio (Kala Marie, Autumn, Matthew, Savannah, Oliver, and Zackary).

Peggy is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Tricia Dallimore (Michael Nisbet), Johanna (Randy) Burke, Jimmy (Amy) Termotto, Ashley (John) Dudek, and Lauren (Charlie) Tribble. Peggy will be remembered for her generous spirit, warm smile, and the genuine joy she brought to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will continue through the love of her family and friends.
