Pauline Thompson Pyle, 93, of Hanahan, South Carolina, wife of the late Freddie J. Pyle, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pauline was born August 30, 1933, in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of the late William Edgar Thompson and the late Emma Jane Benton Thompson. She was a longtime member of Hanahan Baptist Church, where she taught classes over the years and enjoyed serving in a ministry alongside her husband, visiting elderly members and delivering service tapes.
Having been raised on a farm, she enjoyed watching things grow. Even this year, she still had a little garden growing. She was an amazing cook who made the best Southern meals imaginable. Most of all, she loved being with her family. She loved her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family, and she always looked forward to seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and of whom she was so proud.
She is survived by her children: Teresa “Terry” Sedgwick (Billy) of Jupiter, FL; Robin Nighbert (Michael) of Knoxville, TN; and Alan F. Pyle (Karen) of North Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren: Joshua Sedgwick (Rita), Jacob Sedgwick, Shelby Pyle (Bundrick), Jeremy Sedgwick (Nicole), Sarah Sedgwick Baldwin (David), Alexandria Pyle Reid (Braden), and Taylor Pyle Loyd (David); eleven great-grandchildren: Phillip, Titus, and Aurora Sedgwick; Nolan and Mason Bundrick; Luke Baldwin; Kamden and Lauren Reid; Summer and Max Loyd; and Lily Sedgwick; her brother, David C. Thompson (MilvieDean) of Conway, SC; and her sisters, Audrey Giles (the late Bobby) of High Point, NC; Scottie Goude (the late Billy) of Conway, SC; and Dorothy Baker (Gene) of Conway, SC.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Viola Hazelton, Dottie Lee, W.E. Thompson, Edward Thompson, Robert Thompson, Emilyn Dew, and Roy Thompson.
Memorials may be made to Hanahan Baptist Church, 1262 Belvedere Drive, Hanahan, SC 29406.
