Pauline Watkins Purcell, 95, of the Presbyterian Home in Summerville, South Carolina, widow of Benjamin Douglas Purcell passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will greet friends in the Covenant Hall at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Pauline was born March 31, 1919 in Pendleton, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Thomas Green Watkins and Bessie Hunter Watkins. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon and a member of the Women of the Church. Pauline enjoyed reading, sewing, and entertaining her friends and family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sons, David L. Purcell and his wife, Donna, of Charleston, SC, and Benjamin D. Purcell and his wife, Marcia, of Fair Play, SC,; her grandchildren, Allison Anderson and her husband, Colin, Lindsay Blanton and her husband, Freddie, Dana Purcell, and Walker Purcell; and her great-grandchildren, Wells Anderson, Harper Anderson, Sayler Blanton, and Solby Blanton. She is also survived by her brother, Miles Hunter Watkins and his wife, Margaret, of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas G. Watkins, Jr.
