Pauline S. Pillow

August 10, 1913 — February 14, 2011

Anna Pauline Pillow, age 97, passed away February 14, 2011 at Summit Place of Daniel Island, where she has lived for the past several years.


Pauline was born on August 10, 1913 in Central City, KY.  She was the widow of Thomas Otha Pillow.  She was predeceased by her parents, Maude and Will Staton; a daughter Betty Jo Pillow; and a sister, Lucille Comeaux of Central City, KY.


She is survived by a son, Bill Pillow and wife Marie of Hanahan; two daughters, Sue and husband Daniel Burt of Hanahan and Jeanie and husband Bill Stoddard of Greenville, SC.   Pauline is also survived by five grandsons:  Donny Woods, Tommy Pillow, Christopher and Jason Stoddard and Danny Burt, III; five granddaughters: Toni Pagels, Tameria Langston, Paula Bennett, Tina Johnson and Kelly Cox; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy G. Pillow; two nieces, Suzanne Fulkerson and Laura Mothersbaugh; and three nephews: Bob Pillow, Pete Pillow and Jerry Pillow.


            Pauline graduated from Central City High School, married her childhood sweetheart and has lived the past 70 years in SC.  She was known for her smile, wit and friendliness.  She never met a stranger.  A lover of animals, family and friends; she was an avid bowler and was inducted in the Charleston Bowling Hall of Fame.  She was the last surviving charter member of the Jolly Friends Senior Group.


            The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Summit Place and Hospice of Charleston for their love and care.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, with Dr. Thomas Pillow, her grandson, and Dr. Michael Giles officiating.  Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.


A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2011 at  Fairmount Cemetery in Central City, KY.  Friends will be received at 1:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, KY prior to the graveside.


Memorials may be sent to Portside Baptist Church, where she was a member, 1179 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
