Paula Ellen Stafford Barkus, 84, of Mount Pleasant, SC, wife of Robert Jones Barkus, died Friday, October 4, 2013. Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Paula was born November 27, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Thomas Stafford and the late Olga Andersen. She worked at the Islip Public Library for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughters, Gail B. Nutt and her husband Ted of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Kristine Blencowe of Lynchburg, VA; her sons, Stephen Barkus and his wife Diana of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Paul Barkus and his wife Christine of New York, NY; eight grandchildren, William Barkus, Natalie Barkus, Warren Nutt, Mackenzie Nutt, Austin Nutt, Alex Blencowe, Hannah Blencowe, and Stephen Barkus, Jr.; and one great-grandchild, Houston Franklin.
