Paul Nicholas "Ricky" Uricchio
June 4, 1943 — July 3, 2012
Paul N. "Ricky" Uricchio, III, 69, husband of Nancy Simonin Uricchio, of Charleston, SC, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2:30 pm in The Cathedral of St. John The Baptist on Broad Street. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel.
"Ricky" was born June 4, 1943 in Charleston, SC, the son of the late Paul N. Uricchio, Jr. and the late Mamie Odom Uricchio. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School and the University of South Carolina, where he received a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1965. Ricky graduated from the University of South Carolina, School of Law in 1970 and practiced law in Charleston for more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of Charleston, SC; a son: Paul N. Uricchio, IV of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Cristin A. Uricchio of Charleston, SC; one brother: Michael Anthony Uricchio of Charleston, SC; one sister: Debra U. Myers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two nieces, several nephews, many cousins, and his beloved rescued pit bull, Chauncho.
Ricky was a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, ABATE of South Carolina, Tri-County Bikers Helping Bikers, the National Rifle Association, the United States Concealed Carry Association, and the Gamecock Club. He was a second degree black belt in Kempo, a second degree black belt in Juku Ryu, and second degree black belt in Ju Jitsu. A lifelong athlete, Ricky completed several triathlons and marathons. He was an avid Gamecock fan, fisherman, motorcycle enthusiast, and had recently taken up metal detecting. Deeply devoted to family and friends, Ricky was known for his tremendous generosity and colorful sense of humor.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412 or to Happy Wheels, which provides toys to patients at MUSC Children's Hospital, 1400 Madison Court, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
