Paul Franklin Staples, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Rebecca Garl Staples entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. The family will receive friends at the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm. and at the Simpson Funeral in Roanoke, VA Friday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Roanoke, VA.Paul was born January 5, 1934 in Roanoke, Virginia, son of the late French A. Staples and Annie Edwards Staples. He was a US Air Force veteran of Korea and was a Quality Control retiree from General Electric Corporation. He served as a Little League coach in Roanoke, VA for over 25 years and was a former member of First Baptist Church Choir, Roanoke, VA. After retiring from GE in 1988, Paul and Beckie moved to Mount Pleasant to enjoy their retirement years near the ocean.He is survived by his wife of twenty nine years Beckie ofMount Pleasant, SC, his daughter, Tracy Page of Roanoke, VA; his sons, Paul A. Staples and his wife Shannon, of Seattle, WA, and Michael D. Hallas and his wife Tracy Sullivan of Portland, OR; his brother, David "Buck" Staples of Roanoke, VA; and five grandchildren, Aidan Paul Philip Staples, Caitlin Fiona Noelle Staples, Lindsay Wills, Zachary Page, and Asa Hallas.In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to a Charity of One's Choice.
