Paul Melvin Rugg

Paul Melvin Rugg, 84, of Hanahan, SC, formerly of Cape Cod, MA, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 29, 2024. His funeral service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel at 1:00 pm, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.

Paul was born July 31, 1940 in Worcester, MA, son of the late Melvin Frederick Rugg and Elizabeth Mary Callahan. He formerly worked as a general manager with Packaging Technical Service, then served full time in the US Army National Guard with the 110th Armor as a 1st Sergeant. Upon retirement to Cape Cod, MA, he worked for his brother for many years at the Sarian Company. He later moved to Hanahan, SC where he regularly enjoyed sitting outside his house and chatting with neighbors. Paul was a life long Catholic who loved visiting the beach when he was younger, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He is survived by his daughters, Debb Warren (Lonnie) and Kristine Alexander (Doug); son, Jeffrey Rugg (Andrea); grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, and Quinn Alexander, Elizabeth and Anna Warren, and Jack and Claire Rugg; brother, Donald Rugg; along with six nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Whipple.
