Paul Joseph Markowski, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband to Kathleen "Kathy" Markowski for 48 years, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 5th, 2025 with family by his side. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and a prayer service will take place at 6:30 pm.
Paul was born January 20th, 1955 in Williston Park, New York, son of Helen Duggan and the late Edward Markowski. Paul worked for IBM for many years, but his favorite part of his job was the great friends he met along the way. Paul’s favorite thing was spending time with family. He loved traveling and seeing the world with Kathy; whether it was a European excursion, a trip to Maine, or a baseball stadium to see a NY Mets game, he was up for any adventure as long as he could have his bourbon at night.
While Paul loved all of his family and friends, nothing was more precious to him than his children (Brian, Jenn, Matt), grandchildren (Scarlett and Ella), step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He held a special place in his heart for all of the children, cherishing every moment with them. He was so proud of them all.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his son, Matt Markowski; his daughter, Jenn Hanson (Erik); his mother, Helen; his mother-in-law, Rose Stuven “GG”; his brother, Steven (Lorena); and his sister, Susan. Paul was welcomed with open arms into heaven by his son, Brian; his father, Edward; and his father-in-law, William Stuven.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation in Paul’s name to one of his favorite charities: The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, or the local Charleston SC Chapter of the Ronald McDonald house to help build their new wing (https://www.rmhcharleston.org/ways-to-give/donate/).
