Paul Waldemar Hund, Jr. 77, of Charleston, SC, husband of Elizabeth Hund died Sunday, July 6, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 in the Bethany United Methodist Church, James Island, 1853 Maybank Hwy. at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown Chapel. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. Downtown Chapel.
Paul was born January 18, 1937 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Paul Waldemar Hund and the late Margaret Lillian McDaniel. He was a 1960 graduate of Clemson A&M College. Paul co-founded Coward-Hund Construction Company with C. Ronald Coward in 1976. He retired in 2002 after serving as the Executive Vice-President. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, serving as lay leader and holding every leadership position at Bethany. He was the Past President and member of the Charleston Contractors Association, a member of the American Red Cross Board, member of the Ronald McDonald House Board, Chairman Emeritus of Clemson Board of Visitors, on the Clemson Foundation from 2001-2002, member of Clemson in the Lowcountry, and member the Charleston Clemson Club.
He is survived by his son, Paul W. Hund, III M.D. and his wife, Catherine, of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Priscilla Hund Ansley and her husband, Michael, of Camden, SC; two granddaughters, Courtney Hund and Cynthia Hund; two grandsons, Andrew Ansley and Jacob Ansley; step sons, Robert A. Isaac, Jr. and G. Arthur Leary, Jr.; two step-grandsons, Chase Isaac and Christian Isaac; and sister AnnJi H. Salley and her husband, Lawton, of Orangeburg, SC.Pallbearers will be Arnold Blackmon, Gresham Meggett, Julius "Skippy" H. Weil, Jr., Steve Baumrind, Phil Bradley, and Jack Carter.
