Patterson Gillespie Mims, 73, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Vera Warder Mims, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 22, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm until time of service at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel.
Pat was born April 2, 1941 in Sumter, South Carolina, a son of the late Middleton Gillespie Mims and Iris Padgett Mims. He was a US Air Force veteran and a retired Ship Scheduler with the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Pat was a member of Carters Ford Baptist Church, American Legion Post 112, V.F.W. Post 5091 and the Forty and Eight Voiture 576.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vera Mims of Charleston; son, Monty Mims and wife Martina of Ravenel; daughter, Angie Lewis and husband Kelly of Charleston; step son, Ray Hudson of Smoaks, SC; brother, Jasper Mims and wife Betty of Summerville; three grandchildren, Patterson L. Mims, Jr., Katie Hudson, Elisha Corrigan; and two great-grandchildren.
