Patricia Darnell Jones Truett, 78, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widow of James Daniel Truett III entered eternal rest Monday, February 14, 2022. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022, in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Altman Room, at the church. Patricia was born December 13, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late George Edwin Jones and Louise Ebert Jones. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and worked as a schoolteacher in Lexington and Berkeley Counties, prior to assuming the position of Director of Food Service for Berkeley County. She was a leader in state education food service, serving as a past president of SC Food Services, also serving several years as it's Legislative Chair. Following state retirement, Patricia consulted as the Director of Food Service for Dorchester County District 4. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Daughters of the King. As a long-time North Charleston resident, she belonged over 45 years to its longstanding The Social group. This group of ladies met bimonthly for years providing friendship, support and community.
Patricia is survived by her only daughter, Robin Truett Powell (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three granddaughters: Rebecca, Rachel and Callie Powell; and two nieces: Paula Callahan Wichterman and Cheryl Droze Robinson along with multiple great nieces and nephews.
