Penny gave generously of her time, talent, and resources to many organizations throughout her lifetime. She served in many capacities at St. Philip's Church. She served on the boards of Ashley Hall School and The Charleston Museum, where she was named a trustee emeritus. She was one of the first licensed tour guides of Charleston, and it brought her such joy to share the history and stories of her beloved city. She continued throughout her lifetime fighting to preserve the charm and dignity of the Charleston she loved.
Those who knew and loved Penny will remember her passion for history and music, her keen intellect and wit, her fierce determination, her unwavering loyalty to friends, her bridge acumen, her iconic morning walks on the battery, but mostly her love of her family who will miss her dearly.
The family would like to thank her amazing caregivers whom she came to love, Cassandra Green and all the wonderful caregivers from Home Instead. They would also like to thank Roper Hospice, and especially Lilly, for all the guidance and support.
