Pamela Clark Solley

January 3, 1945 — March 28, 2022

Pamela Clark Solley, 77, of Greenwich, CT, Washington, CT, and Charleston, SC, died peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2022, at her residence in South Carolina.

Pam was born on January 3, 1945, in Stamford, CT, the second of four children and only daughter of the late Howard Longstreth Clark, Sr., and the late Elsie Dancaster Clark. Elsie passed away, and, in 1961, Howard married Jean Beaven Selden, a beloved second mother to Pam, affectionately known as "Mozzie." She also gained five step-siblings who became instant family. Pam happily remarked their fun, blended family was just like the old movie "Yours, Mine and Ours." Pam had fond memories of the nine children growing up together and of their many escapades.

Pam was a 1963 graduate of Rosemary Hall School, Greenwich, CT, and 1965 graduate of Garland Junior College in Boston. Following graduation, Pam taught at The Town School in Manhattan and later served as a school librarian for the Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, CT. She had a lifelong passion for children, education, and literacy, serving as a trustee of both The Frederick Gunn School and The Gunn Memorial Library and Museum in Washington, CT. Pam was an avid gardener who devoted time to the Washington Garden Club in Washington, CT, and loved America's national parks. Recalling her own childhood trips out west with her parents, Pam organized and took her children on an RV road trip to introduce to them the many parks she so dearly loved; this adventure was the highlight of her life. More than anything, Pam cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Pam is survived by three sons and two daughters: Dr. George P. Keogh (Anne) of Charleston, SC, Clark R. Wierdsma (Amy) of West Windsor, NJ, Emily F. Wierdsma (David Cutler) of Greenwich, CT, Katherine D. Solley of Baltimore, MD and Nicholas N. Solley, Jr. of Bozeman, MT; seven grandchildren: Edward, Emily and Grace Keogh of Charleston, SC, Avery and Paige Wierdsma of West Windsor, NJ, and Megan and Katie Cutler of Darien, CT; former husband, Nicholas N. Solley, Sr. of Washington, CT; brothers: Stuart W. Clark (Kris) of Onalaska, WA, Albert W. Selden, Jr. (Lynn) of Stanton, CA, Lynde Selden II (Jeannie) of San Diego, CA and Paul B. Selden (Karen) of Evanston, IL; sisters: Susan Selden Egan (Bobbie) of Riverdale, NY and Patricia Selden McNamee of Briarcliff Manor, NY; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pam was predeceased by her stepmother, Jean B. Clark; husband, George P. Keogh, Jr.; former husband, Frederick R. Wierdsma; and brothers: Howard L. Clark, Jr. and Stephen D. Clark.
