Pamela Maddex Hendrix, 74, of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, wife of Leon James "Bill" Hendrix, Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 while surrounded by her family.
Pam was born March 8, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee, daughter of Robert Malcolm Maddex and Louise Smith Maddex. She grew up in Camden, South Carolina and graduated from Winthrop University. Pam was a fiercely loyal and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She liked nothing better than spending time with her family, particularly at her Kiawah home, Clemson football games, or while traveling abroad. Pam had a zest for life and a quest for knowledge. She was admired for her creativity and flair in preparing a meal, decorating a room or table, and planning and hosting outstanding parties. She was a great conversationalist and made each person feel like the guest of honor. Traveling and learning about other cultures was her passion, leading her to make multiple visits to five different continents.
Pamela is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leon James "Bill" Hendrix, Jr.; three daughters, Jill Ganzenmueller (Thorsten) of Potsdam, Germany, Joy Yonce (Chad) of Charleston, SC, and Holly Cirrito (Michael) of Chevy Chase, MD; a son, Leon James "Jim" Hendrix, III (Elizabeth) of Greenville, SC; ten grandchildren, Jasper and Ben Ganzenmueller; Henry and Pamela Yonce; Will, Malcolm and Charlie Cirrito; Billy, Tucker and Louise Hendrix; brother-in-law, Guy Hendrix; sister-in-law, Lisa Hendrix; nephew, Emory Hendrix (Martha); and niece, Mary Kathleen Hendrix.
Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Johns Island Presbyterian Church, 2550 Bohicket Road https://maps.google.com/?q=2550+Bohicket+Roadandentry=gmailandsource=g at 1:00 p.m. Private interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery, Clemson University.
