Pamela Cockfield Griffin of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 4, 2013. She was born in Lake City, South Carolina, on May 28, 1937, daughter of Pierrine LePrince Cockfield and Jamie Hartwell Cockfield. She was educated in Lake City schools, attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, for two years, where she majored in piano performance. She then graduated from American University in Washington, D. C., with a Bachelor of Arts in Music History.
Pam taught private piano lessons for thirty years, retiring in 2003. As the founder of the choir, she was also pianist and choir director at Heritage Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, a member of the Charleston Symphony Singers Guild, South Carolina Music Teachers' Association, Charleston Music Study Club, and founder of the Junior Music Study Club.
Pamela Griffin is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Charles Narey Griffin, Jr.; her three children: Jeanne Griffin Hill and her husband, Max L. Hill, III of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; Michelle Griffin Dysthe and her husband, Scott W. Dysthe of El Cajon, California; and Charles Jamie Griffin and his wife, Anne McFarland Griffin of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; her brother, Dr. Jamie Hartwell Cockfield of Macon, Georgia; and by her six beloved grandchildren: Max Lloyd Hill IV, Charles Griffin Hill, Ann Evatt Hill, Leilani Janet Dysthe, Elijah John Dysthe, and Emily Caroline Griffin.
Visitation will be at the J. HENRY STUHR INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, on Tuesday, August 6, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
