Palmer Leonard "Skip" Skoglund

April 12, 1940 — November 24, 2011

Palmer Leonard (Skip) Skoglund, Jr., 71, husband of Ann Skoglund of Asheville, NC passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011. A Memorial Service will be at Trinity Episcopal Church, Asheville, NC , Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am with Rev. Alex Viola officiating.

Skip was born on April 12, 1940 in Swarthmore, PA, son of the late Palmer Leonard Skoglund and Julianna Holmes Skoglund. He was a graduate of the Asheville School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a Beta Theta Pi. He retired after a career of various management positions with Akzona prior to his current work as a commercial real estate broker with Beverly-Hanks & Associates. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville, NC. He was also a member of the Biltmore Forest Club where he served as a member of the Board of Governors and the Rhodendendron Royal Brigade of Guards where he served as Chief of Staff.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ann Harwood Skoglund of Asheville, NC; his son, Palmer L. (Perry) Skoglund III and his wife Felicia of Mt. Pleasant; SC his daughter Alexandra Skoglund Thomas and her husband J. Eric of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters, Sondra S. Martin of Atlanta, GA and Julianna S. Phillips and her husband Tommy, also of Atlanta, his sister in law Joan H. Hazelton and her husband J. Douglas Hazelton of Charleston, SC and many accomplished nieces and nephews. The light of his life were his four grandchildren, Julianna A. Skoglund, Elizabeth M. Skoglund, Porter M. Thomas, and Ann Harper M. Thomas and to them he will forever be their beloved Boopee.
