Pad Hamon, Jr., 86, of North Charleston, SC, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in the Mt. Pleasant, SC Hospice Center. Born August 14, 1923, in Tulsa, OK, he was one of seven children of Pad Hamon, Sr. and Eula Mae Miller Hamon. He was a US Army Air Forces veteran of WWII and retired as a machinist at the Charleston Naval Ship Yard. Mr. Hamon was a member of New Covenant Church of God. Mr. Hamon is survived by his two daughters, Virginia Mixson of North Charleston, SC and Sandra Kay Gordon and her husband Tim of Hudson, NC; his brother, B. G. "Bill" Hamon of Statesboro, GA; his three sisters, Helene Bailey of Summerville, SC, Ilene Mullins of Arkansas, and Betty Lankford of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lalaus Virginia Lankford Hamon; his son, Michael Hamon, his daughter Sheryl Lynn Hicks; his sister, Wanda Kirkland; and his brother, Bobby Hamon. The funeral service will be held in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow with military honors at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel Friday, May 14, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
