Mr. Oscar Leppert Jr, 79, of Mount Pleasant, SC, passed away on Friday, the 1st of March, 2019, following an extended illness. Born July 14, 1939 on Sullivan's Island, SC, he was the son of the late Oscar and Dorothy Leppert. He attended Fort Moultrie High School and he was in the National Guard. Bubba married the love of his life, Ola Marie, and they were married for over five decades and had 3 children. Bubba and Ola raised their first two children, Larry and Mark on Dewees Island where he was their primary caretaker. Bubba went on to work for the SC Wild Life Department and was later employed by Richard Reynolds of Reynolds Aluminum Company. Bubba and his family moved back onto the mainland in 1978 where they welcomed their third child, Nikki. Bubba also ran his own shrimp boat for several years, worked at the Ports Authority and finally retired, helping his son Mark with his business. Bubba is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Brenda Leppert of Shady Cove, Oregon; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Rachael Leppert of Mount Pleasant, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Nikki Wood and Tim Skipper of Mount Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, Mark Jr., Christopher, Michael, Gauge, Ali and Zachary; and one great-granddaughter, Rylee Marie. Bubba was predeceased by his wife, Ola Marie Leppert; mother, Dorothy Leppert; father, Oscar Leppert; and two sisters, Gayle Leppert and Beulah Leppert Lunsford. Bubba enjoyed life and spent many days hunting, fishing, shrimping, picking oysters, and just about anything outdoors. Anyone that ever met bubba would tell you he was someone you wouldn't forget. Down at the Geechie dock at Shem Creek he was known as the "colonel".
Bubba's service will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. Mount Pleasant CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m. in Stuhr's Mount Pleasant Chapel. Thanks to all the people there for being such good friends to him. He will be missed by all.
