Ophelia Gilliam Kinard

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of June 27, 2011, Ophelia Gilliam "Sugar Babe" Kinard, wife of Brice M. Kinard.  Residence, Charleston, SC.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Brice M. Kinard are invited to attend her graveside service Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Ehrhardt Cemetery, Ehrhardt, SC at 11 am.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Wednesday from 5 until 7 pm.

Mrs. Kinard was born on May 4, 1926 in Barnwell, SC, daughter of the late Wilton R. Gilliam and the late Easter Sanders Gilliam.  She was a Cashier with Robinson Cafeteria for over twenty years and was of the Baptist faith. Sixty years ago, Ophelia met Brice while he was delivering a telegram on horseback to her uncle in the countryside outside Ehrhardt, SC. A pewter spoon will be buried with Ophelia given to her 35 years ago by Jeffrey Roberts.

Surviving are her husband Brice Kinard of Charleston; a sister, Mary G. Rickenbaker of Cordova, SC.
