Born on March 31, 1925 in Westerville, Ohio, Opal was a daughter of Ernest and Emma Corbin Bailey.  While visiting Los Angles, California, Opal met the love of her life Homer on March 30, 1945. Homer and Opal made their home and raised their family in Danville, Virginia. Their marriage lasted 66 years until his death in August 2010. She always referred to him as "Honey".

Opal will be remembered for her strength, her smile, humor and devotion to family and friends. The family would like to express their heart felt gratitude to the Hospice of Charleston and special friend Evelyn H. Brothers for the devotion, dedication and care given to her.

In addition to her husband, Homer, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Connie Faye Brady Donevan.
