Oliver L. Yon

Oliver L. Yon, 90, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, husband of Barbara Yon, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 16, 2022. His  service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd., North Charleston, SC 29406.  Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Northwoods Chapel .  

Oliver was born April 25, 1931 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late George Parker Yon, Sr. and Mary Hall Yon.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served overseas in Saudi Arabia. Oliver excelled as a general contractor building homes in the lowcountry and in his spare time enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He was a member of First Baptist North Charleston and also a Mason and Shriner. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara of 65 years;  his daughter, Pamela R. Baker of Goose Creek; grandson, Carston Baker of Johns Island. In addition to his late parents he was predeceased by his three brothers: George Parker Yon Jr., Neil Yon, and James "Buddy" Yon.
