Norman Scott "Scotty" Lightner, 93, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Mary Catherine Vogel Lightner died Tuesday, June 14, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior at the funeral home.

Scotty was born December 25, 1922 in Batesville, Indiana, son of the late James Richard Lightner and the late Mayme Sophia Smith Lightner. He served in the US Navy. Scotty retired as a supervisor of Arvin Industries in Seymour, Indiana after 35 years and then was employed by Wild Dunes. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge #462 in Indiana and volunteered with March of Dimes for over 25 years. Scotty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Isle of Palms.

In addition to his wife Mary Kay of 73 years, he is survived by his children, Luanne Lightner of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jon C. Lightner of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren, Robin Bell and Scott Bell; and great-grandson, Patrick Nance.

He was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters.
