Reverend Norman Lee Knight, Sr., 88, of Ravenel, SC, widower of Dorothy Wilson Knight entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 12, 2017. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church, 3225 Ashley River Road at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Jericho United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cameron, SC at 3:00 p.m.
Norman was born October 2, 1929 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Clarence Allen Knight and Emmie Lucille Knight. He was a graduate of Duke Divinity School. He began as a circuit pastor in Berkeley County in 1963 continuing in 1966 to the Johnsonville Circuit, followed by 1969 Mt. Vernon Charge, 1973 Harris, 1974 Cameron Charge, 1977 Darlington Circuit, 1979 Saluda Charge, 1981 Ridgeville Charge, 1986 New Market, 1988 Olanta-Coward, 1991 Trinity-Berea. He retired in 1993, but continued ministering in Edisto. He was a member of St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church. Reverend Knight was an avid Stingray season ticket holder fan, and played the Charleston Sr. Bingo Circuit.
He is survived by his son, Norman L. Knight, Jr., and his wife Yvonne of Murrells Inlet, SC; two daughters, Lucille K. Collins of Ravenel, SC, Nancy K. Robertson and her husband Cleve of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Norman Lee Knight, III., Summer K. Altman, Justin Nathan Collins, Joseph A. Collins, Brian J. Collins, Angie Wrenn, Beverly Johnsen, Douglass Willingham, Jr., and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Bobby J. Collins, Jr., two grandsons, Matthew J. Collins and Mackie G. Altman, III.
