Norman Edward "Ed" Bello, 73, of Greenwood, South Carolina, formerly of Charleston, SC and husband of Judith Haywood Bello entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 30, 2015.
His Requiem Mass will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in The Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Ed was born September 20, 1941 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Michael John Bello and Mary Ellen Flathman Bello. After graduating from Chicora High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1959. His Marine Corps service included a Mediterranean tour, National Security Agency duty, and guard detail for President John F. Kennedy's inauguration. After graduating with a degree in architecture from Clemson University in 1969, Ed returned to Charleston to open an architectural rendering firm which he operated for a more than 25 years. He was well known by Lowcountry architects and developers for his artful interpretation of design. Hurricane Hugo caused a move to Greenwood, SC in 1990, and when Judy was transferred to New Jersey, the family relocated to Sparta, New Jersey where Ed continued his architectural practice. In addition to his family, Ed's great loves were the Marines and the Clemson Tigers, he was an IPTAY supporter for 43 years.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Judy; his two sons, Eddie Bello, Jr. (Amanda) of Charleston, SC and Justin Haywood Bello (Stacey) of Hamburg, NJ; sister, Mary Ellen Safon of Hialeah, FL; and four grandchildren, Sophie Bello, Hazel Bello, Gus Bello and Natalie Bello. Nieces Victoria Little and Toni Lynn Sarant.
