Norma Neilsen Yates, 78, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, wife of Cecil Macklin Yates passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013. A Celebration of Norma's Life will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 pm. Entombment will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
Mrs.Yates was born October 8, 1934 in Brush, Colorado, daughter of the late Lester Ray and Gladys Martha Young Neilsen. She was a Naval Supply Clerk with the Charleston Naval Base. She was a member of the North Charleston United Methodist Church and the Business Professional Women's Club. Norma was a member of the Donut Dunkers Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Macklin Yates of Goose Creek, SC; a son, Michael Scott Yates and his wife, Heather L. of Taylors, SC; her two grand-daughters, Heather J. Rosencrans and her husband, Lance of Albany, GA and Emma Caitlyn Yates of Taylors, SC; and her sister, Betty Firnekas and her husband, Bruce of Powell, WY. She is also survived by her loving caregiver and friend, Carol L. Overstreet of Moncks Corner, SC.
