Entered into eternal rest on the morning of November 5, 2011, Norma Mae Bunton Sudano, widow of Anthony Sudano. Residence, James Island, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 12:00 Noon. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Stuhr's Downtown Chapel Monday between 5:00 and 8:00 pm.
Norma was born May 31, 1926 on Whooping Island, SC, along the shores of the southern side of Dawhoo Creek. She was the daughter of the late Nelson Clifton Bunton and the late Ira Irene Roberts Bunton. She was a retired research interviewer and a writer for the James Island Journal for over 10 years. Norma graduated from St. John's High School in 1943. She was a member of the Nativity Catholic Church, Chapter #4 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former 4-H Club leader, Den Mother and Boy Scout leader. Norma was a Guardian Ad Litem and a pioneer in conservationism and archeology.
She is survived by two daughters, Vivian I. Sudano and Valarie I. Sudano, both of James Island; three sons, Vince A. Sudano (Rosanna) of James Island, Victor A. Sudano (Phyllis) of Denton, TX and Vance A. Sudano (Cynthia) of James Island; nine grandchildren, Ty, Lance, Nicholaus, Cliff, Irene, Heather, Darcy, Jimmy and Patrick; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Betty Lou Tumbleston of Cottageville, SC. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Mary Anne Sudano and a brother, Nathan "Bubba" Bunton.
