Noel Johnson, 81, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Ann Dabbs Johnson entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 17, 2024. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in the Palmetto Presbyterian Church, 1720 Carolina Park Blvd. at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends following the service. Noel was born July 23, 1942 in Florence, South Carolina, son of the late James Earl Johnson and the late Annie Mae Hubbard Johnson. Noel was a long time resident of Gastonia, NC for 45 years, and lived locally for 10 years. Noel enjoyed a long career in packaging sales. Upon retirement, he found his true love in hospital volunteer work. He was a 2020 Healthcare Hero for his volunteer work at Roper Mt Pleasant Hospital. He served in the US Army reserve as a member of the 812 Transportation Unit, was past president of Gastonia Rotary Club, and was honored as Distinguished Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gastonia, NC for 45 years serving as elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher for his beloved Henderlite class and a key organizer of the Kirkin of Tartan service. He was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian where he served frequently as Beadle until his illness in 2021and more recently attended Palmetto Presbyterian Church where he was embraced by so much love as he struggled with Alzheimer’s. He loved his family, wearing his kilt, and gave freely to all he encountered.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Johnson; and son, Stephen Johnson (Wendy)and grandson, Phen Johnson, who he adored; and brothers, Harry (Susan), and David (Rhonda). He was predeceased by his twin sister, Nancy.
