Nina Ray Kunkle Shuford, 82, of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, June 7, 2021. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside on Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Fairview Cemetery, Hickory, NC at 2:00 pm. Nina Ray was born January 16, 1939 in Hickory, North Carolina, daughter of the late Clyde R. Yount and Virgie Whisnant Yount. She was a career educator and retired from the North Carolina Public School System. She was the widow of George E. Kunkle, Sr. and Frank J. Shuford.

She is survived by her son, George E. Kunkle, Jr. and wife Christi of Isle of Palms, SC; daughter, Tammy Ray Nesbit and husband Mark of Warrenton, VA; five grandchildren, Stephanie Ranson and husband Brian, John Matthew Kunkle and girlfriend Morgan Rowland, Allison Hagert and husband Josh, Benjamin Nesbit, and Shelby Nesbit; and great-grandchildren, Asher Ranson, Landon Hagert, and Ryleigh Rae Hagert.
