Nichole Rene Bell, born on November 16, 1974, in Inglewood, California, left us suddenly on June 16,2025 in Charleston, South Carolina due to natural causes. A beloved wife, devoted daughter, caring sister and cheerful aunt, “Nickie,” will always be remembered for her effervescent and enthusiastic personality who could be bring a sense of joy to most everyday situations.
Nichole attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, before graduating from the Liberal Arts Academy at Johnston High School in Austin, Texas. Prior to graduation, she entered and won a writing contest from the Austin-American Statesman newspaper. The prize included a paid internship at the newspaper and a full scholarship to the University of Texas. After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism, Nichole went on to a one-year apprenticeship at a Washington D.C. newspaper before finding a home at the Charlotte Observer, primarily covering the local police. While living in the Charlotte metro area, she met her husband Ernest and married him on January 11, 2001. During their time in the Charlotte area, she weathered the impact of the internet on print journalism, reimagined her career and became a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. She ascended from that point to become an award-winning manager at CSL Plasma in North Charleston.
In her free time Nichole continued a childhood love of video games that she shared with Ernest and Jason. She enjoyed a diverse mix of games which she used to spark her own creative energy. She also had a love for the fresh air and sunshine of gardening and a newly discovered passion for Cruising after visiting the Caribbean and the Bahamas. She recently returned to writing for fun again, self-publishing a variety of books including coloring books and a self-help book. Dreaming bigger and filled with enthusiasm, she began work on a larger project which would have been her first full-length novel.
Nichole is survived and severely missed by her loving husband Ernest Bell, her parents Charles and Dorothy Monroe, brother Jason, his wife Robyn Treadwell and niece Mia. Mother-in-law, Katherine Bell, Sisters-in-law Joy Kimbrough and Monica Hall. Along with their loyal dog Daisy.
