Nicholas Summers McCracken

Nicholas “Nick” Summers McCracken passed away on February 11, 2025 at his home in Charleston.

Nick was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November, 13, 1981. In 1987, Nick and his parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in Anderson Township where Nick graduated from Turpin High School. He grew up attending and working his way up to counselor at Camp Ernst, and was a passionate ice hockey player for the Northern Kentucky Norsemen. He then attended College of Charleston where he graduated with a degree in Communications.

Throughout his life, Nick had a natural ability to connect and bring joy with people. His infectious laughter and warm spirit made him a cherished presence in the lives of many, and a good “buddy”. A man of many talents and passions, Nick found joy in painting, drawing, and glass blowing - expressing his creativity through various artistic mediums. He also loved being outdoors, whether fishing or simply spending time on the water. He enjoyed working on home projects and had a deep love for his pets.

Above all else, Nick cared deeply for those around him. His kindness and humor could brighten even the darkest days, offering comfort and laughter to anyone who needed it. His ability to make others smile was a gift that will remembered by all that knew him. Nick’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his laughter continue to echo in the lives he touched.

Nick is survived by his beloved daughter Lily McCracken, his parents David and Leslie McCracken, siblings John McCracken, Caroline (Amin) Shawki, Olympia and Phoenix Chagouris, grandparents Shirley Summers and Art Adasse, nephew Charlie Shawki and niece Lucy Shawki, special Aunt Nancy Miller, as well as many beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please check back for more information.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Breakthrough T1D (Formerly JDRF).

Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
