Nettie Nelson Avery

Nettie Nelson Avery, 68, of Hanahan, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Trident Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2:00 pm; the family will receive friends following the service.

Nettie was born January 19, 1951 in Charleston, SC, daughter of the late Joel Elizondo Barrera and the late Elnora Catherine Beard Barrera. She graduated from Chicora High School and worked for many years in the fire and water restoration field. She was strong-willed, witty, and an outgoing person who enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. She always extended an invitation to sit at her table and enjoy a story or two over snacks. Ms. Avery was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Nettie is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Schuchert II and his wife, Michelle and son, Charles Joel Schuchert and his wife, Andrea; three granddaughters: Leah, Sofia and Alaina; one grandson, Davonte; brother, Michael Roy Nelson and his wife, Claudia, sister, Vanessa Nelson Davis and her husband, Charlie; sister, Anna Marie Bowling and her husband, John; nieces and nephews: Rodney Nelson, Michael Nelson, Michelle Nelson, Marc Nelson, Tiffany Krafft, Rebecca Seeber; Johnny Bowling, Jennifer Grove, Marie Heeter and Chuck Jones; and many cousins who truly loved her dearly. She was a ray of sunshine to all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Joseph Nelson, Jr. and sister, Eva Jones.
