Nelson Rennie Plourde, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Bernardine Franklin Plourde entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 17, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 in The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
Nelson was born April 1, 1932 in Millinocket, Maine, son of the late Joseph Plourde and Sadie Cyr Plourde. He was a graduate of The Milwaukee School of Engineering and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Nelson was a retired electronics engineer who worked for Rockwell International on U.S. navy vessels at the Charleston Naval Station. He was a lifetime member and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge #242. He was a member of The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernardine Plourde of Charleston, SC; son, James Nelson Plourde (Jennifer) of Greer, SC; two daughters, Laura Plourde Akers (Jeffrey) of Charleston, SC, Susan Marie Podiak (Michael) of Charleston, SC; nineteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
