Garrett, Nelson Furman
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of December 18, 2011, Nelson Furman Garrett, 89, husband of Evelyn Lesley Garrett of Mt. Pleasant, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Garrett are invited to attend the Funeral Service for the former on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Cryptside Services will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, December 20, from 5:00 pm until 6:30pm in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Nelson was born on February 17, 1922 in Liberty, South Carolina, son of the late Walter and Bessie Holtzclaw Garrett. The owner of Nelson Garretts, Inc, an antiques business, Nelson devoted many years to the Lowcountry Christmas Festival and antique shows throughout the Southeast. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Garrett of the home; his daughters, Donna Kidd of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Joyce Farrow of Florence, SC; his sister Cecil Campbell; three grandchildren, Meredith Kidd of Mt Pleasant, SC, Dr. Katherine Farrow of Chicago, IL, and Andrew Farrow of New York, NY; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel Farrow, Liam Hegarty and Margaret Hegarty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 405 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403.
