Nelma Audrie Pigott Kennedy

Nelma Audrie Pigott Kennedy, 94, of North Charleston, SC, died Thursday, March 19, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 in the First Southern Methodist Church of North Charleston, 1301 Remount Road, North Charleston at 3:00 pm. Interment, Riverview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
Nelma was born August 4, 1920 in Carteret County, NC, daughter of the late Daniel Hoover Pigott Sr. and the late Martha Jones Pigott. She was a Past Matron and life-time member of Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star for 73 years - Charleston Chapter #56. During WWII Nelma worked in the Charleston Naval Base while her husband served in the Marines in the Pacific theater. After the war, Nelma was a loving mother and wife, worked at the Post and Courier Newspaper, and as a bookkeeper for Furman & Jenkins Law Firm. In retirement, Oliver and Nelma loved to camp, travel and be with their family. One of the founding members of the First Southern Methodist Church of North Charleston where she served faithfully until her health failed. Nelma loved her God, the United States of America and her family.
She is survived by her two sons and wives, Oliver Stevenson Kennedy, Jr. (LaVerne) of Park Place South, North Charleston, SC and Richard Craig Kennedy (Cindy) of Lexington, SC; brother, David Pigott of North Charleston, SC; three grandchildren; Sean Kennedy (Alyce), Cristin Lees (Richard) and Erin Bullock (Erik); six great-grandchildren: Wesley Kennedy, Abigail Kennedy, Charlie Lees, Manning Lees, Jackson Bullock, Kennedy Anne Bullock; many loving nieces and nephews: Patricia, Danny, Nita, Robert, Johnny, Kathy, Cindy and Dave. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Oliver S. Kennedy and her brothers and sisters: Daniel Pigott, Jr., Juanita Harley, Earl Pigott and Earlie Pigott.
