Nell Fennell Garris, 92, of Charleston, SC, widow of Rembert Garris, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 7, 2016. Her funeral service will be held at the graveside, Thursday, May 12, 2016, in Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Nell was born December 19, 1923 in Hampton, SC, daughter of the late George W. Fennell and Hattie Mae Johnson Fennell. She was a 1941 graduate of Hampton High School and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and The Kings Daughter's "Speak Kindly Circle".

She is survived by a son, Mark R. Garris of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Cheryl Garris Warren of Norfolk, VA; two grandchildren: Edward Garris II and Laurie Warren; two sisters-in-law; three nephews; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Fennell and Walter "Buck" Fennell.
