Nelia Elizabeth King Maddox, 93, peacefully entered Heaven to be with the Lord on February 8, 2021. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday in the West Ashley Chapel from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Due to COVID protocol, all attendees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Elizabeth was born on May 13, 1927 in Charleston, SC to parents, William George Biel, and Cornelia Pendarvis Biel. At age 16, Elizabeth began her career at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, after the tragic death of her father, where she worked for almost 30 years. She was proud to graduate from Memminger High School. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Charleston, SC. In younger years, she was a member of St. Barnabas and St. Johannes Lutheran Churches. Elizabeth loved the Lord. She was a child of God with a tremendous Faith and knew that she was saved by Grace. Elizabeth worked hard to provide for her family after the death of her father and during the years ahead raising her three daughters in Charleston. She was always kind and humble.
Elizabeth has been reunited with those who have gone before her. In addition to her parents, George, and Cornelia Biel, she is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Larry B. King; and in later years, her second husband, Jesse "Jake" C. Maddox; sisters: Myrtle V. Downs and Georgeann B. Dempsey.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters: Mary K. Baldwin (Billy - deceased) of Charleston, SC; Susan A. Bradham (Gary) of Elgin, SC; and Nancy K. Morrow (Monty) of Barnwell, SC. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her stepdaughter, Ann Rogers (Barry) of Washington, GA, and her dear aunt, Mickey Evans of Columbia, SC.
Elizabeth has six grandchildren: Timothy Lawrimore (Sonya) of Charleston,SC, Laurie Polson of Elgin, SC, Erin Bradham (Michael Weber) of Phoenix, AZ, Monty Morrow (Ansley) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sarah Morrow of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Charles Morrow (Rebecca) of Dalton, GA, and step-granddaughter, Kay Atkins (Chris) of Martinez, GA; 12 great-grandchildren: Austin Lawrimore (Brittney), Sydney Lawrimore, Eliza Thrasher (Ethan), Ashley Grace Polson, David Andrew Polson, Bailey Morrow, Abigail Morrow, MaKenzie Trisler, Anna Baines Trisler, Lilly Morrow, Andie Morrow, and Bennett Morrow; three great-great grandchildren: Lillian, Waylon, and Rosalynn; and many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lutheran Home Foundation, Staff at Rice Estates, and especially the Lutheran Hospice for their dedication and care. As well as her home church, Martin Luther Lutheran Church for their years of spiritual support and love.
