Natale John Caligiuri, Sr. "Chris", 70, of Charleston, SC, husband of Laura Ann Shroka Caligiuri entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 15, 2014. The Liturgy of Christian Burial service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St.Teresa Drive, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 am. Prayers of final commendation and farewell with military honors will be held in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with vigil prayers.
Chris was born April 14, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Eugene John Caligiuri and the late Emma Auell Caligiuri. He was the owner of Emma's Inc restaurant and bar. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed coaching football and playing pool. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic Minister. Chris was also a Navy veteran.
Chris favorite saying throughout his life was "It is nice to be important but it's more important to be nice! It is nice to have friends but it's more important to be a friend!"
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Caligiuri of Charleston, SC, two daughters, Dawn Marie Hancock and James Hawkins of Ladson, SC and Emma-Katherine Caligiuri Hart "K.C." and Lt. JG Robert Sheppard Hart, USN of Jacksonville, FL; son, Natale John Caligiuri, Jr. of Ladson, SC; two step-sons, Thomas Rowand Robinson and Kristin of Janesville, WI and John Andrew Robinson and Rose of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Betty Jean Caligiuri and Lou Anne Caligiuri both of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren Joey, Brittany, Amber, James, Logan, Emma, Kasten, Kylie and Kenna; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joseph and Preston. He was preceded in death by his son Nicholas Salvatore Caligiuri and brother-in-law Robert William Haas.
